About iron scrap

General iron scrap is deliberately broad. A typical household load has a cot frame, a couple of gates or window grills, some pipe, an old cycle and a bucket of assorted hardware. Rather than asking you to identify each piece, we sort on site and show you which portion falls into the heavier grade and which is light or rusted material.

Condition drives the rate more than age. Iron that has been outdoors for years develops deep scale that burns off in the furnace, so heavily rusted material grades below sound metal of the same shape. Anything still coated with cement, tile or plaster is deducted as tare, because we cannot sell that weight on.

Old cast components — pump bodies, motor housings, weights and stove parts — are cast iron and are graded separately at a different rate, so keep them aside if you can identify them.

Grades and sub-types

We sort and weigh each grade separately in front of you rather than averaging a mixed load down to its lowest rate.

  • Motor bodies, pump parts and small machinery components

What we cannot take

  • Gas cylinders, fire extinguishers and pressure vessels
  • Sealed containers that held chemicals, fuel or oil
  • Items with asbestos sheet attached
  • Anything you do not own or cannot confirm ownership of

What decides the rate

Rates move with the market, so we do not publish fixed numbers. These are the factors we assess when quoting iron scrap.

Weight of sound metal

Rust, scale and pitting reduce the metal that actually survives melting.

Thickness of the pieces

Heavy sections grade above thin sheet and hollow light-wall items.

Non-metal attached

Cement, wood, rubber and plastic are deducted before the final weight.

Total quantity

Bigger single lots reduce our handling cost and improve what we can offer.

Get the better grade

  1. Keep cast iron pieces separate — they are graded and paid differently from general iron.
  2. Break off cement or tile stuck to grills and frames where it comes away easily.
  3. Collect small hardware into a bucket or bag so nothing is lost during loading.
  4. Have the material at ground level if possible; upper-floor loads take longer to collect.

Do you buy old iron from houses?
Yes. Household iron is our most common collection. Call or WhatsApp with a photo and rough weight and we will confirm the rate and a pickup slot.
How is the weight measured?
On a digital scale in front of you. You see the reading for each grade before any payment is discussed.
Is pickup really free?
Yes, for eligible quantities in and around Madurai and Coimbatore. For very small lots we will tell you honestly and suggest a drop-off instead.
