About furniture & fixtures scrap

Steel furniture — almirahs, racks, filing cabinets, lockers and workstation frames — is straightforward ferrous scrap and is bought by weight. Where a piece is sound and saleable, reuse is worth more than melting, and we will offer on that basis instead.

Wooden furniture splits by material. Solid timber can be reused or repurposed and holds some value. Particle board and MDF, which is what most modern office furniture is made of, has essentially no recycling value and is priced as a removal job covering labour and transport.

Office refits and shop closures usually mix all of this together with partitions, false ceiling frames, signage and light fittings. These are quoted as a lot after a walk-through, in the same way as a warehouse clearance.

Steel furniture is bought on ferrous weight; board furniture is not.

Reuse potential

Sound, saleable pieces are worth more than their material.

Dismantling and access

Partitions, upper floors and lift access add labour to the quote.

Lot size

A full office clears far more economically than a few items.

  1. Empty every drawer and cabinet before pickup — documents get lost otherwise.
  2. Separate steel furniture from board furniture; they are valued differently.
  3. Confirm nothing in the lot is leased or rented.
  4. For a refit, book one walk-through and clear it as a single lot.

Do you pay for old office furniture?
Steel furniture is bought by weight and reusable pieces are offered on. Particle board furniture is normally a removal service rather than a purchase.
Can you clear an office over a weekend?
Yes. Weekend and after-hours clearance is common for offices that cannot stop work during the week.
Will you dismantle partitions and workstations?
Yes, that is part of the clearance quote, along with removal and sweeping the space clean.
