About machinery & plant scrap

Two questions decide the value of an old machine: is it worth more running than melted, and how much does it cost to get it out of the building. A serviceable lathe or press with a market has a resale value well above its scrap weight, and we will say so. A seized machine bolted to a foundation on the third floor is a metal recovery job with real removal cost attached.

That is why these are site-visit quotes. We walk the floor, list the assets, assess the metal mix — cast iron beds, steel frames, copper motor windings, brass and aluminium fittings — and factor in cutting, lifting, access and transport. You get an itemised figure rather than a vague per-tonne number that changes on the day.

We bring our own gas cutting and lifting team, work to your site safety requirements, and can schedule around production so a running plant is not disrupted. On completion the area is swept and handed back clear.

What we accept

What we cannot take

  • Vessels that held flammable or hazardous substances without gas-free certification
  • Asbestos-containing plant, unless removed first by a licensed contractor
  • Equipment under lease, hypothecation or a legal hold

What decides the rate

Rates move with the market, so we do not publish fixed numbers. These are the factors we assess when quoting machinery & plant scrap.

Resale versus scrap

A machine with a working market is worth more than its metal.

Metal mix

Copper windings, brass fittings and cast iron beds each carry their own value.

Removal difficulty

Floor level, access, foundations and cutting time all affect the net quote.

Timeline

A relaxed schedule costs less to service than an urgent handover deadline.

Get the better grade

  1. Have the asset list and machine nameplates ready before the site visit.
  2. Confirm nothing in the lot is leased, hypothecated or under a legal hold.
  3. Get gas-free certification for any vessel that held flammable material.
  4. Tell us your handover deadline early — it shapes the crew size and the quote.

Resold as working machinery where viable, otherwise separated into ferrous, copper and non-ferrous streams for melting.

Not for plant and machinery. Photos help us prepare, but an honest number needs a site visit to assess access and removal cost.
Do you bring your own cutting team?
Yes — gas cutting, lifting and transport are all ours, working to your site safety requirements.
What if a machine is still worth using?
We will tell you. If it has resale value above scrap weight, selling it as a working machine is the better outcome for you.
