About hdpe & industrial plastic scrap

The most valuable plastic scrap is factory waste, because it is a known polymer in a known colour with no contamination: sprues, runners, purgings, moulding rejects and trimmings. Sold consistently, this material is close to a raw material rather than a waste product.

Post-use HDPE — drums, crates, jerry cans and pipe — is graded on what was inside and how much colour and dirt it carries. Natural (uncoloured) HDPE grades above coloured; anything that held chemicals, pesticide or oil is either refused or routed for special handling, never sold into general recycling.

PP crates and PVC pipe often arrive in the same load. They are different polymers and are weighed separately, since mixing polymers is what most reduces the value of a plastic consignment.

What decides the rate

Rates move with the market, so we do not publish fixed numbers. These are the factors we assess when quoting hdpe & industrial plastic scrap.

Polymer purity

One polymer in one colour is worth far more than a mixed bag.

Colour

Natural and light colours grade above black and mixed colour.

Prior contents

Chemical and oil residue can disqualify material outright.

Bulk and consistency

Steady factory volume supports a standing rate.

Get the better grade

  1. Segregate by polymer at the machine, not later at the gate.
  2. Keep natural HDPE apart from coloured material.
  3. Triple-rinse any container before offering it, and declare what it held.
  4. Never offer pesticide or solvent drums as general plastic scrap.

Can I sell used chemical drums?
Not as general plastic scrap. Tell us exactly what the drum held and we will advise whether it can be routed for special handling.
Do you buy factory moulding waste regularly?
Yes. Clean single-polymer production waste is the best material in this category and is usually a standing arrangement.
Is black plastic worth less?
Yes. Black and mixed-colour material has fewer end uses than natural or light-coloured plastic.
